Panic As Mysterious Pot Appears Near Benue Government House

                              

There was panic among staff and security personnel on Tuesday after a mysterious pot containing fetish things was spotted at the Benue State Government House roundabout in Makurdi.
According to sources, the pot which contained palm oil, pork meat and something that looked like red kola nut was seen as early as 4am and it is believed it may have been dropped there during the wee hours.
When news of the mysterious pot got to the government house, most of the staff were said to have locked themselves in, the governor’s personal aides reportedly refused to come out of their offices.

Even security men attached to the government house moved away from their original spot on sighting the pot.
Why the pot was deposited at that spot or who deposited it is yet unknown
It is not clear if the pot has anything to do with politics but people are already insinuating it may not be unconnected to the governorship race in the state for the 2015 general elections.

Pregnant road sweeper crushed to death by tanker driver

A pregnant road sweeper working with the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has been crushed to death.
The deceased identified as Mrs. Kikelomo Bamidele was crushed at Ojota, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, by a petrol tanker with registration number Kano NSR 592 YQ while working inside the BRT lane near the pedestrian bridge.

It was gathered that the road sweeper died at the Lagos State Emergency Centre at the old toll gate of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway where she was rushed.


Witnesses at the scene of the accident revealed that the accident occurred as a result of break failure. 
 “The tanker driver had break failure and was trying to manouver the vehicle when he veered into the BRT Lane where he crushed the sweeper. The sweeper’s leg was totally crushed and she lost a lot of blood,” a witness revealed.
The tanker also damaged another salon car on the road. The driver of the vehicle was unhurt.

14yr old girl kills another 14yr old girl after Facebook fight over a boy

14 year old Endia Martin (pictured above) was killed on Monday April 28th by another 14 year old girl after they argued on Facebook about a boy. Is this what 14 year olds should be doing? Fighting over boys and killing each other? My goodness!

According to Chicago Times, the handgun used to kill Endia Martin had been brought to the scene by someone who knew the suspect and knew 'there was going to be a fight' Chicago police said

"What would have been, under any other circumstance, probably a fistfight between 14-year-old girls, because they were fighting over a boy, turned into a murder. You introduce a firearm and you have a murder." The police said

According to him, asthma presents with recurrent episodes of whistling sound when the patient breathes (wheezing), shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing.
Experts say the coughing may result in the production of sputum which, sad to say, may be hard to bring up, thus undermining the flow of air even more.
Again, physicians say, when the airways are regularly inflamed as a result of asthma episodes, the situation may result in more permanent narrowing, worsening the health of the patient.

Jonathan sacks Gulak as political adviser

                                       

President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday terminated the appointment of his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Alhaji Ahmed Gulak.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, announced this on his Twitter page.

Abati said the President thanked Gulak for his services to the present administration and wished him success in his future endeavours.

He however did not give reason for the sack.

He said a replacement for Gulak would be announced in due course.

Abati wrote, “President Jonathan has terminated the appointment of his Special Adviser(Political), Alhaji Ahmed A. Gulak with immediate effect.

“President Jonathan thanks Alhaji Gulak for his services to the present administration and wishes him success in his future endeavors.

“A replacement for Alhaji Gulak will be announced in due course.”

The World Health Organisation placed a global ban on the use of chloroquine and Artesunate in 2005 but Nigerians still use the tablets!

WHO has issued another waning now to Nigerians, advising against the use of Chloroquine and Artesunate for the treatment of malaria.

Nnenna Ezeigwe, National Coordinator, National Malaria Control Programme, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Abuja.
She, however, recommended that people should take only Artemisinin Combination Therapy, ACTs, when they test positive for malaria.

“If your test result is positive, take only Artemisinin Combination Therapy (ACTs). Do not treat malaria with chloroquine, artesunate or other monotherapies.

Housewife Bites Off Neighbour’s Ear, Swallows It

                                   

A 30-year old house wife, Mrs Chizoba Ejike, has appeared before an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos for allegedly biting off the ear of her neighbour and swallowing it in anger.

According to other neighbours, the suspect was engaged in a fight with the victim, one Mrs. Ndidi Eze at their residence at 20, Brinfalami Street, Ejigbo area of the state and in the process, Mrs Ejike grabbed the victim’s left ear and bit off a portion which she allegedly swallowed.

Mrs. Eze was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The neighbours added that both women have always fought since they started living in the house.

Army to begin mass recruitment in May

                                      
The Federal Government has given  the armed forces and other security agencies the nod  to embark on mass recruitment.
The Punch gathered in Abuja on Sunday that the directive was to give fillip to the war against terrorism in the country.
It was also learnt that those who attended the expanded National Security Council meeting in Abuja on Thursday emphasised the need for the recruitment.

A highly placed military source said that   President  Goodluck Jonathan  issued the  directive for more recruitment into the army in March after the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Kenneth Minimah,  had briefed him about the operations of the army.
The source, who did not want to be named because he was not authorised to speak on the  matter,  said   the army did not  begin   the recruitment immediately because of the need to expand training facilities in parts of the country.

Child killer/rapist tortured and raped in prison in Brazil by 20 men

A Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor named Daryell Dickson Meneses Xavier was reportedly beaten and raped by 20 men after he was locked up for allegedly killing and possibly raping his girlfriend's 1year 11 months old son (pictured with him left) in Taguatinga, suburb of Brasilia, Brazil in Sept 2013.

According to local media, trouble started for the man after his girlfriend left him alone with her son. A few hours later, he called his girlfriend claiming the boy fell and was having seizures. The child was rushed to the hospital and died two days later. Doctors who didn't believe the boy fell called the police and told them they suspected foul play because the injuries on the boy wasn't consistent with a fall but with blunt trauma, and also said possible sexual abuse was involved.
Doctors concluded there was blunt trauma and that the child also had a fissure in the anus. Fissure could come from sexual abuse or constipation but the boy's mum said he didn't have constipation.

During the ‘Celebrities Read to Children’ segment of the event, at the Royal Banquet Hall of Hotel Presidential on Tuesday, one of the pupils in attendance, a youngster of about eight years, sent the guests rocking with laughter when he asked, “Why is Aki so short?”
But barely concealing his embarrassment, Aki patiently explained to the pupil that he was created that way. “If you look around, you will see that some people are tall and others are short, even shorter than I am. I am short because God has created me this way,” he said.

David Moyes Has Been Sacked, Ryan Giggs will take temporary charge until the end of the season,

  
David Moyes has been sacked by Manchester United with immediate effect.
Chief executive Ed Woodward arrived at Carrington at 8am on Tuesday morning to inform the Scot face-to-face of the news.

Moyes had already been informed of his fate and thanked club staff at the training complex in anticipation of his departure. The players were not present at the time.
A tweet on the club's official Twitter account read: 'BREAKING: Manchester United announces that David Moyes has left the club. The club would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role.'

Ryan Giggs will take temporary charge for the rest of the season as interim manager.
It emerged on Monday that United's owners, the Glazer family, had lost patience with Moyes after a dismal season that has seen the reigning Barclays Premier League champions slump to seventh in the table.
The final straw was Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Everton, their 11th in the Barclays Premier League this season, and a result that left the title holders 13 points off the Champions League places.
