Gov Akpabio Did Not Supervise Any Beating,Its A Lie!- Hon Onofiok Luke...

Premium Times reported that Akwa Ibom state governor Godswill Akpabio supervised the beating of Honourable Onofiok Luke but the honourable man has issued a press statement rubbishing the report  and called it a lie from the pit of hell.

Read his press release.

''THAT LIES MAY FADE AND TRUTH REMAIN

My attention has been drawn to stories on online platforms and other news media alleging that the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio CON supervised the physical assault on my person at Etim Ekpo few weeks ago. I ordinarily would not have joined issues with the reports if they were factual and true, but since they are the reverse, I must state here, now and for the records THAT THE GOVERNOR DID NOT SUPERVISE ANY OF THE ACTS THAT WAS DONE AGAINST ME. In fact, the governor on immediately being informed of the incidence by the state party chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo, intervened and summoned a peace meeting at the country home of the honorable commissioner for special duties, Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, where he caused the persons involved to apologize to me. The Governor on that same occasion demonstrated an uncommon leadership trait by also apologizing on their behalf. How then could he have supervised their acts against me? For the records, I share a father-son relationship with His Excellency the Governor and that relationship predates politics and this administration. Therefore there is no way the father would have "beamed with smile" while his son was assaulted, as reported.

The online reports also quote the honorable commissioner of information and communications as stating that I raised my voice against the governor. I sincerely do not believe that to be from the honorable commissioner, or I believe he was misquoted as I have always seen him to be a man of truth, factual in his statements and upright. But if he made the statement, then it is quite unfortunate, as I never "raised my voice against the governor" and none of my colleagues at that scene mentioned such issue as alleged in the honorable commissioner's response.

I will plead that since I have long left that incidence behind, people should not stoke fire by giving inaccurate account of it and trying to cause disaffection between my person and that of His Excellency, the Governor. I WAS A VICTIM , SO EXCUSES SHOULD NOT BE MANUFACTURED TO MAKE ME A VILLAIN, as this will amount to insult upon injury.

On the whole, I urge politicians and their cronies to stop their attempts at making political capital out of that incidence by making unfounded claims and publications especially against the person of our amiable Governor and performer, my father, friend and Senior brother, His Excellency Sir Godswill Akpabio CON. While thanking persons and institutions for their solidarity, I wish all to forgive and forget as I had long forgiven every persons for their misdeeds. "For by strength shall no man prevail" 1 Samuel 2:9b.Hon. ''
