Chime donates vehicles to traditional rulers
Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State has said the state is blessed with first class individuals as traditional rulers of communities in the state, saying that their presence has helped to entrench peace and development across the State.
The governor stated this yesterday while inaugurating the state’s newly constituted 57- member Council of Traditional Rulers at the House of Assembly Complex, Enugu.
He noted that the selection of members of the council had been difficult given the quality of traditional rulers in the state, adding that it was during the process that he discovered that most of them were highly accomplished and experienced individuals, who had been operating behind the scene to ensure that peace reigned in the state.

“ I beat my chest to present to the world our Council of Traditional Rulers. We can say that no other state can boast of the quality of the membership of this council,” he said.
The governor said that under the law establishing it, the council was to advise him on the maintenance of public order within the state and on any other matter, adding that the law also provided for standing committees and other structures that would enable the state “get the best out of our traditional rulers.”
He said that the law also provided for rotation of the membership of the council every three years, saying that this and other arrangements, would help eliminate unnecessary competition for membership among the traditional rulers.
Chime sued for the continued cooperation of the royal fathers to ensure that the  state continued to set the pace for rapid development and peace in the country.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues, the Chairman of the council, Ambassador Lawrence Agubuzu, commended the governor for reposing confidence in them as the task of picking leaders among traditional rulers had never been an easy one.
“We pledge that we will not let you down, we will do our best to support you so that you will continue to give us the best of service, which you have  been giving us since you took over the leadership of our dear state,” he said.
Highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of official vehicles (SUVs) to the principal officers of the council. Apart from Ambassador Agubuzu, the other officers are , R.S.N Eze (First Deputy Chairman), Julius Nnaji (Second Deputy Chairman), Samuel Uka (third Deputy Chairman). Others are Royal Highnesses S.O Itodo (Grand Patron),  Kingsley Chime ( Patron) and Abel Nwobodo (Patron).
