Victims of recent Boko Haram attack in Bama local government area of Borno State yesterday got N100 million compensation package from the state governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima,
Governor Shettima had yesterday defied all security concerns to visit the troubled area where he personally commiserated with the leaders and people of Bama who had suffered series of attacks by the Boko Haram insurgents.
Speaking at the palace of the Shehu of Bama, Alhaji Kyari Ibrahim El-Kanemi, where he presented N100 million to the monarch on behalf of the people, Governor Shettima expressed concern over how the insurgency had wasted lives, destroyed the economy and rendered hundreds of youths jobless.
Shettima said, “I took an oath of office as the governor two years ago to work for the people devoid of ethnic, religious and political affiliations. That is why it becomes a duty for us to share in your moments of grief”.
The Shehu of Bama, who was full of thanks for the palliative given to his people assured that the funds will get to all those affected by the insurgency.
After Maiduguri, the state capital, Bama has been the second largest Borno State town that was hit hard by Boko Haram insurgency.
