Mrs Angela Onah, Widow of slain human rights activist alleges plan to release husband’s killers

                              One year after the gruesome killing of a human rights activist and social crusader Late Chief Christopher Ejike Onah at the University town of Nsukka, the alleged killers are yet to be arraigned in court.

Speaking to Crime Guard the widow of the human rights activist, Mrs. Angela Uche Onah expressed surprise that barely one year of hacking her husband to death in front of his compound at Agbani Nsukka, Enugu State, the alleged killers were yet to be tried.
Mrs. Onah explained that six suspects were arrested and questioned by the police in connection with the killing of her husband and the matter was later  transferred toDirectorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), but up till now nothing has been heard from the DPP about  the matter.

The widow expressed satisfaction with the police investigation which led to the arrest of the six suspects now awaiting trial,noting that some other alleged killers of her husband are still at large, and appealed to Nigeria police to put more efforts to track the fleeing killers of her husband to face the wrath of law.

In her words: “life has been so difficult for me and the children since the head of the family was killed on  February 4,2013.Payment of the children’s  school fees and other domestic necessities pose a big challenge, but our major worry is the non trial of the six suspects in prison custody in the law court. I cannot be at rest till the six suspects were tried in connection with the killing of my husband that rendered me a widow. History would never forgive those who conspired and killed my beloved husband Ejike,” she lamented.

The widow cried that there were allegedly an under- ground plan to release the six suspects from prison custody without  trial, and she challenged Enugu DPP to arraign the six suspects in court as soon as possible.

Crime Guard  gathered that the six suspects may be granted bail  this month without due process of law in a murder case of that magnitude. The names of the six suspects  include Anthony Agu, Uche Onyishi, Onyebuchi Agu and Sabastine Ugwuroko. Others are Chikodili Onah and Okwuchukwu Agu.

Mrs. Onah while crying for total dispensation of justice in the gruesome killing of her husband called on the federal and state governments together with civil liberty organizations and other human rights crusaders to come to the aid of the bereaved family to ensure that justice would be obtained in court in connection with the killing of her husband.

”I am appealing that the six suspects should not as a matter of necessity be granted bail without fair trial ”, she cried.
