Union Bank building in Abuja gutted by fire

A heavy fire has gutted a three story building along Area 10, Garki, in Abuja in the late hours of January 22, 2014, Wednesday.

The building houses the district Union Bank of Nigeria on the second floor, and is opposite the popular Cyprian Ekwensi house known as the 'Art and Culture Centre.'

“A spark of fire from the second floor could have resulted in the heavy inferno,” a security guard who works in the building said.

The Officials of the Fire Service have not responded to requests for information yet. Therefore, the root of

the fire was also unknown.
